Tuesdate at Little Tycoon Playhouse

Instead of buying Riley new toys, I wanted him to have new experiences in his young age. We are not exactly a rich family where we can afford to give him everything a child his age may want. But I will certainly try to expose him to the real world in  a way that his toddler mind can handle and understand.

Immediately ran to the cars as soon as he stepped inside

With playhouses / playgrounds, he is able to experience interacting with kids and learning how to deal with different scenarios. Sharing is still hard for him but a gentle reminder of "Share your blessing!" is enough to make him want to share the toy or play space. He is also starting to converse with other people.

Just yesterday in the playground, a kid accidentally stepped on his fingers. He immediately told me what happened and after he felt better, he started telling other kids that he hurt his fingers. It's funny because the other children are puzzled why Riley was telling them that information.

I've discovered this relatively new playhouse located at the 2nd floor of Westgate Center, Filinvest. The banners that I saw posted on the lamp posts in the area notified me that they just opened. If not for those, I don't think I would have known about them as that area is too far from the mall and not really noticeable.

Wide play area

Variety of shops for the kids to choose from

Doorways are a tad small for adults but I can't complain as they are meant for the little ones

We dropped by on a weekday afternoon and since it's existence is almost unknown, Riley was the only one playing there! One hour play time fee is at P200 and you have to pay an additional P50 for the adult companion. Unlimited play time is at P400 which is not too bad. I hope in the future they will have an option for an additional 30 minutes play since if you exceeded the grace period of 5 minutes they will charge you automatically for another hour.

Inside the cafe

Inside the Japanese restaurant

Riley served me a salad since I was on a diet!

At the salon checking out the hair cutting tools

Depositing the coins in the bank. He said he can finally buy Cra-Z-sand!

Inside the toy palace. It's scary to think how he will be able to reach the other toys without an adult present.
It was a well spent afternoon at the Little Tycoon Playhouse. Riley did not want to leave when his hour was up! I heard they also accept birthday party reservations as one customer was confirming her set-up while we were there.

We would definitely be back soon and hopefully more kids will flock this place so he can have playmates.

An fun-filled afternoon at Kidzoona Robinsons Galleria

Since my office is located nearby Robinsons Galleria, I stroll around the mall during my lunch break (clocking in extra steps in the pedometer!). I saw this newly opened #playground located in the mall. Too bad we did not get to avail the opening discount offer of piso play.

We were here on a weekday so there are less kids (and adults) running around the place. They also offer arcade #games but when we visited almost half of them are under maintenance. They have a locker area where you can place your shoes, stroller, and bags. Good thing there is no extra payment for this. Checking in your child with their computerized system assures you that your child will not leave the area without proper validation. You still need to be vigilant though! These are only preventative measures and not a guarantee that nothing untoward will happen to your child.

They have a spacious area with a variety of games and #toys for kids of all ages. Even the grown-ups are having fun running on the bouncy mattress and sliding down the 2-story inflatable slide.

One of the attendants convincing Riley to place the plastic ball on the blower so it will float.

The ball pit is massive! It is definitely the largest ball pit area I have seen in my life. The only negative thing here is that there are too many balls which makes it difficult for me to walk in. Riley can't walk there by himself. I had to carry him to the slides. He loved "swimming" in the ball pit though.

Gripping the foam barricade in case he falls in

You can jog, hop, and jump on this bouncy mattress. Foam pads are placed on the floor beside it to soften the landing of over-enthusiastic #kids. Another plus to Kidzoona are the number of attendants they have to assist and watch over the kids. And they also keep the area tidy. Less hassle to search for the toys when they are already in their proper place.

Riley spent a lot of time in the toy train section. I love wooden toys but hate the price tag that comes with it. I noticed that some of the toy structures on the table are glued on. Why?!

They also had ride-on cars. Two small cars in a big area. It seems lacking somehow.

Kidzoona has a lot of choices in their pretend-play area. Your child can make ice cream, crepes, serve cakes, make sushi, and do the grocery in the produce section. Riley kept on stacking the ice cream on the cone and pretending to lick them. Cute!

We would love to come back here as the hour spent was not enough. I am crossing my fingers that they put up a branch in the south!

Kidzoona is located at the 4th level of Robinsons Galleria. Rate is P200 per child and one companion for an hour. This is a great deal as other playgrounds with a much smaller area charges as high as P400+ with companion for an hour.

What kind of a playground Mom are you?

Riley playing by himself at the corner

It’s another weekend, and it’s another playground visit. We try to go during off-peak hours so there are less children fighting… err… playing on the grounds. As much as I want Riley to have the social interaction with kids his age (who is not a relative), it is hard to control the environment when there are too many children running around. Call me over-protective. How can you stand it when you see your own flesh and blood being pushed out of the slide or being hit by misbehaving kids?

Last Sunday, after having lunch, Riley stayed at the play area while there were only a handful of children inside. I am always on the lookout for children who might be a threat to my son and I will try to keep a wide distance from that kid. I spotted this 4-5 year old boy who was dismantling the wheels of the toy trucks and throwing them outside the fence. I was looking around for his guardian but no one was telling this kid to stop especially when he might hit unsuspecting people with those things. I walked over to him and told him sternly that what he is doing is not nice and he should stop immediately. This boy frowned, gave me an evil stare and just continued staring at me for like 10 seconds! I guess my job (dealing with headache-inducing clients) prepared me for this because I also stared back and gave him a scary stare of my own. Then he slowly let go of the truck, placed the wheels inside the container, and ran quickly away from me. It worked! I felt guilty for an instant but it quickly vanished when I saw him doing the same thing at another area! Roar!!! I caught his eye and widened my eyes at him so he can see that I am watching him. After that, he stopped dismembering the trucks and played on the ball pool instead.
Where in the world are his parents or his guardian? And why are they not stepping in and stopping their kid from hurting other people? I saw his grandfather sitting at the corner reading a newspaper and neglecting his naughty grandchild. I am mentally stopping myself from going over and confronting the old man. Maybe he is intentionally ignoring the kid since he knows he misbehaves a lot and he is letting other people handle it.

If you are this type of parent/guardian, please do not get upset when another parent/guardian will step in and try to stop your kid from wreaking havoc. It is better that you stay at home and your kid will not influence my kid to become naughty. We all know how children are like sponges; they can soak up a lot of things, good and bad. I don’t want my kid to soak up your child’s bad behavior.

I am Riley's mom and I am a protective parent who is not afraid to talk to you or your kid if his/her actions will directly harm my child.
